The map illustrates two possible locations for the construction of a new supermarket for the town of Garlsdon.
Overall, it can be seen that the most striking difference between the two sites is that the first site is in the countryside, while the second location is roughly in the middle of the town center.
The first proposed site (S1) is located in the countryside, which is 12 km to the northwestern of the Hindon that has a population of 10,000. In addition, its position is also in close proximity to the main road and the railway. If the supermarket is built there, this would facilitate access to consumers from both Hindon and Garlsdon who are able to commute by either train or private vehicles.
As for the second possible location, S2 is situated in the town centre and to the south of the industrial area. This is 16 km away from Bransdon and 25 km from Cransdon, with populations of 15,000 and 29,000, respectively. While the site is adjacent to both the main road and the railway, residents can only travel by train, since the town centre is designated as a no-traffic zone.
