Overall, in 2000, there were only 5 facilities in the city, and the port area was empty. At present, the number of buildings are increased to 8 including new 2 objects in the port area.
In the start of XXI century, urban area had a train station, a university, a forest on the north side of the city and an old market near of the main road. Also, the city centre was empty such as the port area.
Nowadays, the Nelson city has significantly developed. For instance, a restaurant, a bar, and the clubs appeared in the port area. In addition, hall of residence and new covered market were built. Moreover, a old train station was demolished and was built a new one in the front of a university, which is the only project that was not touched. Also, a new shopping center was built on the site where used to be a forest. The last two changes are the introduction of bike rent in the city center and main road was reconstructed for people as a sidewalk.
