By 2013, substantial alterations had been made. The former mammal exhibition on the upper left was replaced by a new ice age gallery while a smaller insect section was introduced between the ice age and dinosaurs. The ocean hall, lobby, entrance and ticket desk retained their original position but their size was expanded a bit. However, the most dramatic transformation occurred on the right-hand side on the museum. The garden was removed to make space for an expanded indoor area that included a relocated mammal section, a human origins display, as well as newly constructed visitor amenities such as a shop and a café.
In summary, the museum evolved from traditional exhibition into a more customers oriented facility equipped with modern amenities.
