The two maps below illustrate the small town of Islip as it currently exists and the proposed developments planned for the area.
Overall, it is clear from the maps that there are significant changes planned for the town centre in Islip.
It is observed that the countryside area will be transformed into a road and the northern part of the town, which currently houses shops, may be converted into a bus station, shopping centre, and car park. Additionally, a small road is planned to connect to new housing development.
Conversely, the main road is set to be converted into pedestrian area, and the southern section of the town will have a similar planned development as the town center. In the southern area, the width of the road near the school may be expanded to accommodate a dual carriageway. The school building is planned to be reduced to a single floor and the housing colony will merge with the new housing developments. Moreover, the area designated for the park may become smaller compared to the current layout of Islip’s town centre.
