The map illustrates the variation of Pentland between 1980 and 2007.
From a broader perspective, it could be seen that the main changes occupy every inch of the land, reflecting a clear image of the evolution of modern technology over the years.
Starting from the west side, we observe that the industrial area in 1980 had been later replaced by a car park, a swimming pool, in addition to another park right above it to the side. Moving on, it is apparent that the main road had expanded in comparison to the initial one in 1980, it now enclosed the yacht marina which had been previously known as the sea. On the other hand, the left side of the map had witnessed some changes too. In 1980, that part of the land only contained a car park and a modest looking grassland. Whereas, in 2007, a large proportion of Pentland has a significant number of apartments on the upper east side, and numerous shops right below them. Finally, the map reveals that the grass land from 1980 had disappeared, while a great deal of houses occupied its position instead in 2007.
In conclusion, Pentland was affected by both time and technology as it climbed its path over time.
