The two maps illustrate how a city has developed between 1950 and the present day.
Overall, the area has experienced significant development and urban sprawl. The key changes include the expansions of both residential areas and business districts, the introduction of a government building and a lake, alongside a tenfold increase in the city population.
In 1950, the population of this city was relatively small, with a mere around 20,000. The northern section was dominated by a residential area, enclosed by a business district. There was a river located in the central area, with a bridge bisecting the northside and southside of the city, and an airport situated in its east. Moreover, a modest government building was constructed in the southern section, adjacent to several major roads crossing the city in all directions.
In the present, the modern city accommodates 200 thousand residents, ten times larger than that of its size in 1950. Notably, the residential area has expanded in all directions, now covering almost the entire map, while the business district itself also stretches southward from the northern region to wholly cover the old small government building in 1950. In the river, a lake has been formed, with a second bridge connecting the two ends of a road. On the eastern side of the river, a dam has been constructed, improving water management infrastructure. Furthermore, the airport has been enlarged, whilst a new major road running east to west, linking with the existing road network.
