The two maps illustrate the current layout of an industrial area in Norbiton and proposed plans for its redevelopment.
Overall, the industrial zone is expected to undergo a significant transformation, shifting from a manufacturing-focused area to a predominantly residential neighbourhood with added infrastructure, including housing, a school, medical and shopping facilities, and a playground.
In the present layout, the area is dominated by several factories scattered around a central roundabout. A main road runs west to east, intersecting the roundabout and leading to the factory area to the east. A river flows along the northern edge of the map, beyond which lies farmland. A small town is situated to the west of the roundabout.
In the future plan, all factories will be removed and replaced with housing. Several residential buildings will be constructed, including one across the river, connected by a newly built bridge. A school is planned for the southeastern section, while a medical centre and shops will be located close to the roundabout. A new road will also be built to connect the school area to the main roundabout. Despite the extensive redevelopment, the farmland and the town on the west side will remain unchanged.
