The two maps illustrate the current layout of Huntingdon and its projected changes in the future.
Overall, the town is expected to undergo numerous modifications in the future, with the most significant being the improvement of traffic infrastructure.
At present, the town centre is encircled by a ring road which separates it from the built-up area comprising residential and commercial buildings. The ring road is connected with the A1 Road through Brampton Road running from east to west. A railway line runs adjacent to the west of the ring road, passing through the built-up area and heading to the northeast. Located in the top northwestern part of the town is the airfield which can be accessed via the A1 highway.
In the future, while the ring road surrounding the town will remain unchanged, it is proposed to be able to connect to an additional road leading out of the built-up area. Moreover, a new roundabout is planned at the intersection of the Brampton Road and the road leading to the built-up area. Additionally, the current airfield is set to be replaced by an industrial estate, marking a change in the town’s economy.
