The maps above describe Islip town’ heart in the present and how it is planned to develop in the future.
Overall, the Islip town centre undergoes a number of significant changes which include construction of a wide beltway surrounding the centre and a pedestrian way across the main space of the town.
In the current layout, a row of shops lines with an expanded countryside behind facing the main road. In the planned scheme, these spaces will be developed for several amenities including a bus station, a shopping centre and a car parking space all of that covered by a pedestrian only road in the south and the dual carriage road in the north. Additionally, residents’ houses will be built near these facilities while a road will be constructed to connect these houses with the belt road.
Meanwhile, on the south side, the park at present will be accommodated to expand the new housing. The school facing the dual carriageway is planned to be renovated to be larger while the residential building is moved away from the school in the East because of the construction of the road.
