The images presented contains two maps. Firstly, one which reflects the current state of a town center in Islip town, and then the other which is the projected plans for development in the area.
Overall, the small town of Islip shows great plans towards its city centre, with improved road networks, and more organization in the shopping district of the town. Although the town may not be planning towards larger scale development, it relfects their attention to detail and orderliness in the town center.
In the present map of Islip, there is noticeable a countryside north of the map, with rows of commercial shops intersected by a main road which runs lenghtwise across the map. Also, that main road branches out on the west and south borders of the map, with the west divergence leading to a school and the south leading to the town’s park. Finally, in the middle of the map, is observed to be the section of the area for housing. This layout reflects minimalism and a lack of proper urban planning.
In the projected plans for the area, the maps reveals a change in the road networks, rather than going straight through the map its is arragned to go around the infrastructure of the layout with a dual carriageway. The school and some houses still remain outside the cirlce created by the road and the park has now been reduced to create space for more houses. The shops that ran along the main road, has been moved to the center of the location, with a bus sation, a shopping center, a car park and more houses just above it, towards the north side of the map.
