The two maps illustrate the main features of the library in 1975 and after its refurbishment.
Overall, the library has undergone significant transformations, with the most notable changes being the addition of a café and shared areas. Another major modification is the introduction of technological devices in the top-left corner.
In 1975, traditional materials such as books and magazines were located in the upper-left corner. In the middle of the top section, there was a stair entrance next to two bookshelves displaying new arrivals. The central area and bottom-left side were occupied by bookshelves, while reading desks were positioned to the east. The north, middle, and one corner of the south were dedicated to adult book collections, while a small children’s section, featuring comics, was located in the southwestern corner. Additionally, a toilet was positioned between the adult and children’s bookshelves at the bottom.
In the modernized version, the library has undergone technological and structural updates. The northeast section, which previously contained books and magazines, has been converted into a computer area, emphasizing the shift towards educational technology. A wheelchair-accessible entrance has been installed in the northwest section to improve accessibility. The central area has been redesigned, replacing large bookshelves with a café and shared spaces, furnished with sofas, round tables, and rectangular tables. Despite these modifications, the library desk, toilet, and southeastern bookshelves have remained unchanged. However, the children’s area has been reduced in size.
