The maps illustrate the transformation of a library from 1975 to the present, highlighting significant modifications in amenities and space allocation. Overall, the library has undergone major developments, including the addition of reading areas, computers, and wheelchair access.
In 1975, the library had a traditional layout primarily centered around books and bookshelves, with limited amenities. The entrance was centrally located on the northern side and was accessible only by stairs.
Space allocation was structured as follows: on the right side, two sections were dedicated to new books, while the left side contained a large area for magazines and books. Bookshelves were positioned off-center to the left, with desks arranged to the east. The southern section was divided into two areas: the southwest housed a shared area and additional bookshelves, while the southeast contained the children’s book section. The toilet was situated in the middle of the southern section. In the present layout, some significant changes have been made to improve accessibility and facilities. The entrance remains in the same location, but a wheelchair ramp has been added.
The left side of the library has undergone a notable transformation. The space once designated for books and magazines now accommodates computers and a coffee area, creating a more interactive environment. The bookshelves remain but have been reduced in size. The shared area has been relocated to the center of the library and is now furnished with tables and chairs for reading and discussion. On the right side, the new books section has been retained, but a wheeling access area has been introduced to enhance accessibility. The library desk remains in its original position. Meanwhile, the children’s book section remains in the southeast, unchanged from 1975. The toilet has also remained in the same location.
