The maps illustrate the changes in the waterfront area of Darwin town from 2009 to 2014.
Overall, the town experienced several alterations, including the addition of a harbor and a university building, while the industrial zone was converted into green spaces, with more trees planted. The school, convention center, lake, and fishing area remained largely untouched. The residential area was expanded, as was the swimming pool.
In 2009, the lake was surrounded by a circular footpath, which could also lead to the two swimming pools, which were located near the sea. Near the lake, there were industrial zones, which covered much space and some trees. Round the lake we could see the school, convention center, and fishing area, founded in the far right corner of the map, which were still in use without any alterations after half a decade as a pair of swimming pools located near the sea. Moreover, residential blocks were constructed close to the trees.
After half a decade, the area took on a completely new appearance. Instead of factories, some trees were planted as adding to a greenery space. The number of accommodations doubled, while the university was constructed for developing education. After demolishing the industrial zone, located near the lake, it was converted into a new swimming pool. Furthermore, a new harbor was added in the sea, providing new access to the town for residents.
