Overall, the area underwent a major shift from being largely industrial to becoming more residential and recreational. New housing, a university, and leisure facilities were added, while the former industrial zone was replaced by green space and a harbour.
In 2009, the northern part of the waterfront consisted mainly of an industrial area, but by 2014 this land had been cleared and replaced with a forest of trees, through which a footpath was constructed leading directly to a newly built harbour. Similarly, the swimming pool that had previously been located in the south was relocated to the eastern side of the lake.
The central and western parts also saw significant development. While there had originally been only three residential buildings in 2009, this number doubled to six by 2014. In addition, a university campus was constructed beside the new housing. The school and convention centre in the north-west remained unchanged during this period, as did the fishing area on the far east.
