The two maps illustrate the changes that occurred at the waterfront area of a town known as Darwin between 2009 and 2014. Overall, there were several alterations in the town of Darwin as more public buildings, a university, apartments, and lush areas were built in 2014, and all developments came at the cost of the industrial area. Despite significant changes, swimming pools, a fishing area, a lake, and a school remained unchanged.
Focusing on the initial form of the Darwin town, in 2009 the industrial area was located on the southwest side of the map, and there was a lake surrounded by a footpath; an industrial area was left of the lake. There were trees to the south, and another side of the lake had a convention center. Moreover, there were three residential areas which were adjacent to the trees, while there were a couple of swimming pools, a fishing area, and the sea on the east side of the Darwin town. The school was located at the junction of two main roads from the north and west.
In 2014, the Darwin town had experienced several changes in its layout. The green area was built at the expense of the industrial area. Additionally, there was a footpath which connected the northern road and new harbour on the east. In addition, the university building was built to the west of the town, and the newly built swimming pool was situated near the lake, where the industrial area stood, and the residential areas doubled in number. Finally, the school, lake, convention center, and former two swimming pools remained intact.
