The three maps show the changes that happened to Meadowside Village and Fonton, a neighbouring town, in three different periods (1962, 1985 and now).
Overall, both Meadowside Village and Fonton increased in size over the years until they eventually merged together, at which point Meadowside became a suburb. Meanwhile, there have been tremendous changes to the infrastructure, housing and facilities over the given periods.
In 1962, Fonton and Meadowside were completely separate with no roads or any means of connection. While Fonton had a railway line running through it in the north, also Meadowside, located in the west of Fonton, only had a small road that crossed the village from the north to the west.
By 1985, there was a noticeable growth in the size of Meadowside Village and Fonton. The small road of Meadowside had been converted into a main road and was also extended to the east to connect with Fonton. Meanwhile, Meadowside had also developed a housing estate in the west, a leisure complex in the north and a supermarket in the south.
Currently, Meadowside has expanded further to the point where it joined with Fonton and is known now as Meadowside Suburb. The railway line has been extended reach a station, which has been built between Fonton and the suburbs alongside the main road. To the north of the station, a hotel has been constructed and opposite the station, to the south on the other side of the road, there is now a business park.
