The maps illustrated the changes that occurred in Darwin from 2009 to 2014.
Overall, the area experienced a significant improvement in residents’ lives. The area became less urbanised, with industrial areas removed, but gained more public access facilities and greenery.
In 2009, the northern part was mainly a residential area, with a footpath which led to the sea in the centre of the section that circled a lake, an industrial area, and some trees. Next to the footpath, and to the northeast of the upper section, were two pools and a fishing place. Additionally, there were also a school, a convention centre and some accommodations. By 2014, the northern section of the map experienced some moderate changes, with the industrial area transformed into another swimming pool, and more housing was implemented to accommodate more people.
The southern section of the map in 2009 was heavily industrialised. However, by 2014, more greenery was planted in this area in order to improve the scenery of the area. And in the southwest, much of the industrial area was replaced by a university. Furthermore, a harbour has also been developed to the southeast of the map, along with a new footpath that connects to the sea, which made it easier to traverse around the area and enhance the quality of life for the residents.
