The two maps illustrate how Shalton Village changed in 2010 compared to 1910 layout.
Overall, the village underwent significant transformation, with new housing and amenities being built partially at expense of the green zone.
As for the central part of village, where the most substantial changes had occured by 2010, School Road, London Road and High Street, which formed a triangle around the central part, remained unchanged. All trees were cut down to give way new residential bulding to accomodate a greater number of people. A large house, baker and grocer which situated along High Street, were demolished, while a new cafe had been constructed on the corner of School Road and High Street by 2010. Over the century, a small path, connecting London Road with residential area, was established.
Regarding the rest of the village, the post office on the north and school on the west remained untouched, while the eastern part along London Road and southern part along High Street had been converted into large residential areas by 2010. The butcher on the west was replaced with a supermarket and parking lots. Additionally, a bank was introdused on the north in 2010 layout, where there used to be a house in 1910.
