The given ilustrations compare the shift in the Shalton village from 1910 to 2010.
In general, it is readily apparent that the village underwent significant changes, with new infrastructures being constructed and some remaining places removed and replaced. Notably, Shalton village had become a modern residential area after a century.
In 1910, the central area was surrounded by the School road in the western side, the London road in the eastern corner and the High street in the south. In the middle of this layout, a large house was encircled by scattered trees, which was opposite to a grocer, a small house and a baker. On the school road, there were three spots, with a butcher situating between a school and a house. The high street featured only two houses whereas the London road had solely a post office during this year.
However, after 100 years, this village experienced significant modifications. In the central place, the old large house with a cluster of trees were completely demolished and made way for new houses. These house were built surrounding a small path connected to the Lodon road while the grocer as well as the baker were converted into a newly cafe and a house. Another noticeable change was the replacement of the butcher to a supermarket attached with a parking area while the school remained intact in the southwest. Meanwhile, some additional houses were established in the London Road and High street in 2010.
