The two maps illustrate the main changes between the year 1910 and 1940.
Overall, Langley had underwent some significant changes, particularly with the creation of Sherman Park in the south. It is also clear that the railway line was removed in the southern part of Langley.
In 1910, there were town houses on both in the west and east of the Jordan Street. Additionally, one factory occupied a wasteland in the north. Over the 40 years, Langley changed considerably. The town houses were replaced by apartment buildings in the west and those in the east were demolished. Three large buildings known as Sherman Mansions, were constructed on Sherman Street.
The railways workers’ cottages and Railway line were situated in the south in 1910. There were also a cafe and a laundry in the east. Sherman park, New lane street and three stores were erected, while the railway line was removed in the south. The Cafe and laundry in the east and Jordan street in the west remained unchanged.
