The maps depict how the university’s sports center has developed over a period of 35 years.
Overall, what stands out from the maps is that the university’s sports center has experienced significant transformations in its layout with regard to the construction of a basketball court, a fitness center and a pair of tennis courts, making it more user-friendly. However, these changes have come at the cost of the car park and the park.
The university’s sports center used to lack entertainment facilities at the beginning. There was a reception approximately in the middle, with the changing room to the right and the café on the opposite side. Apart from this, the open-air swimming pool was in the north-east corner, and a pair of tennis courts occupied the bottom right corner of the map. In the south-west corner, there was the car park, opposite which was a leafy environment. Since then, the sports center has changed significantly. While the changing room has been extended to the east, both the reception and the café still exist. Furthermore, the outdoor pool has been transformed into an indoor pool, making it season-friendly. There is now a fitness center on the south-east side where a couple of tennis courts used to be, but larger in size. However, the tennis courts have doubled in size and have been relocated to the bottom left corner of the map, where the car park was previously located. Finally, a basketball court has been constructed, which led to the disappearance of the green zone.
