The maps illustrate the previous infrastructure and the current development in the Liverton Dock.
Overall, the area has been used mainly for shipping and storage. There are several ships, cranes for loading and unloading, as well as warehouses on both sides of the water. Industrial facilities have been removed and new buildings have been added for education, leisure and tourism.
In 1980, the Livetorn Dock consisted primarily of port facilities with numerous ships on the river, cranes on the south-west and north sides of the coast, and three warehouses. One of these depots was located in the south, and two more depots with cranes were located between them in the north.
Today, the area underwent significant redevelopment. Warehouses and industrial equipment were replaced with buildings designed for education, recreation, and residence. An education center and a sailing club now occupy the site of the old warehouses. Moreover, there is a children’s play area. Development extended to tourism, with a hotel, apartments, and parking lot constructed to accommodate residents and visitors. Additionally, a flood barrier and a bridge are placed in the northeast corner, contributing to the area’s safety and connectivity.
