The maps indicate the development of a town called Poulton from 1900 to 1935.
Overall, it can clearly be seen that the town was urbanized during the given period.
Initially, Poulton was more likely to be an industrial zone with factories and wasteland in the north and northeast of the town. However, these infrastructures were demolished for the instruction of Bayley mansions. Moreover, the northwest of the town, which used to be 2 rows of terraced houses along Trent street, was replaced by many new flats.
In 1935, a new cafe and a laundry were built next to the Bayley mansions. The railway workers’ cottages were also removed for the mushrooming of shops. Additionally, the center of the town, which used to be wasteland, was the Bayley Street Park with a playground for childrens.
