The two maps show the city of Nelson as it was from 2000 to the present day. Overall, the city has undergone significant modernization with many improvements in residential facilities and transportation.

In 2000, Nelson’s layout was relatively simple. The university was located in the northern side of the city, with a train station on the west side and an old market further south. The central area was nominated for a large city centre, while the southern edge is occupied by the port the

Today, the city has expanded and changed a little bit. The university remains in the same position, but the hall of residence has been added nearby, and a new shopping centre has been built to the east. The train station has been relocated southeast, and the old market has been replaced by a modern covered market, and a new shop has appeared west of bikr rental area. The city centre has been redesigned as a pedestrian-only zone to reduce traffic. Finally, the port has been transformed into a vibrant leisure hub featuring a restaurant as well as bars and clubs.

in summery, Nelson has evolved from a functional but limited urban space into a more dynamic and modern city with greater emphasis on residential and sustainable transportation and leisure activities
