The two maps illustrate the southside shopping mall, in its current layout and its proposed redevelopment.
Overall, it is clear that the southside shopping mall has been expanded to the center of the site to accomodate for more stores and place greater emphasis on fashion. Additionally, the car park has been extended to the eastward, while the Gulf course and park has been demolished.
At the present, the southside mall comprises a supermarket, department store, cinema, noodle shop, and cafe’, along with children play area and toilet facilities. To the east of the center, there is Gulf course adjacent to the park, whereas in the north side, a fitness center and a car park are located opposite to the main entrance.
According to the proposal, only the supermarket, toilet and main entrance will remain original from the side. The most significant development will be the eastward expainsion of the mall, replacing the Gulf course, fitness center, and park. The car park will also be enlarged to more than double its current size. Inside, new retail spaces such as, fashion, shoe, cosmitics stores will be added, while the department store will expand and gain a seprate entrance. The cafe’ will be replaced by an information center, meaning there will no longer be any dining facilities.
