The diagrams illustrate the layout of Piltover library in the years of 1989 and the present day.
Overall, the structure of the study area has been transformed to a circular shape and the total area of the building has been extended.
In 1989, starting in a clockwise direction from the entrance, on the left hand side a Children’s Book area can be seen. This section is followed by fiction book shelves on the furthest left. Moving on it can be seen that three rectangular study areas comprise the middle of the map with Non-Fiction book shelves on the 6’oclock area of the map. At the corner of the building the community meeting room can be observed. Next come to the Copier/Newspapers/magazines and lastly, Librarians desk on the right hand side entrance.
On the present day the structure of the map has seen significant changes. Continuing in a clockwise manner it can be seen that the Children’s Book area has been replaced by the self service book checkout and information desk. The Fiction book area has been changed to the DVD and CDs section. The shape of the study area has been changed to a circular from and increased four in number. The bottom left comprises of multimedia centre and the community meeting room remain unchanged. The extended portion of the building has the Fiction and non-fiction books along with the children’s book area on the top. Lastly, the librarians desk is replaced by the book drop.
