The line graph shows cell phone use among men, women and both sexes in Brazil from 1996 to 2002.
Overall, cell phone use increased among both men and women over the period. The total number of users was always much higher than the number of male or female users separately, and it reached its highest point in 2002.
In 1996, both men and women had around 1,500 users. The number of female users rose slightly to about 1,750 in 1998, before falling a little in 1999 and 2000. After that, it increased steadily and reached around 1,900 users in 2002.
The figure for men followed a similar pattern. It started at approximately 1,500 in 1996, rose to about 1,700 in 1998, and then declined slightly in 1999. From 2000 onwards, male usage increased again, reaching nearly 1,900 by 2002.
The total number of users rose from about 3,000 in 1996 to around 3,400 in 1998. It then fell slightly and remained stable until 2000, before increasing sharply to approximately 3,700 in 2002.
