The bar chart illustrates the number of trips made for different purposes by men and women in a certain European country in 2007.
What is most striking when looking at the chart is that travelling to work stood out as the highest among almost all purposes, aside from shopping, which was done most by women, while day trips across all types of trips were the lowest.
Focusing first on travelling to work, shopping, and visiting friends, they exhibit an identical pattern. Travelling to work boasted the highest number of trips by men, with around 325 trips. This was followed by visiting friends with slightly fewer than 200 trips and shopping with nearly 200 trips. The number of women’s trips is the greatest for shopping, with around 270 trips, surpassing travelling to work and visiting friends with 200 and 210, respectively.
Turning to sports/entertainment and day trips, both purposes had fewer than 150 trips compared to other objectives. Sports/entertainment led men’s trips at around 140 trips, far exceeding day trips, which had only 35 trips. In contrast, the number of sports/entertainment trips made by women was slightly lower, with only 130 trips, similar to the 20 trips for day trips.
