The chart compares the number and the purpose of journeys made by men and women in a certain European country in 2007.
Overall, while men made more journeys for day trips, sports and entertainment, and travelling to work, women exceeded them in visiting their friends and shopping. Of particular note is that the greatest difference between the two genders was observed in travelling to work, with men taking considerably more journeys.
The number of trips made by women was higher in visiting friends and shopping than that made by men. More than 200 journeys for visiting friends were made by females, compared to their counterparts who made under 200. Moreover, women surpassed men in taking trips for shopping, at approximately 280 and just below 200 respectively.
By contrast, men exceeded women in making journeys to day trips, sports and entertainment, and travelling to work. Males took roughly 40 journeys for day trips, whereas women took about 30. Furthermore, the number of trips made by men for sports and entertainment was just under 150, as opposite to women who made around 130. Finally, males made nearly 350 trips for travelling to work, which was considerably higher than the figure for females, at about 210.
