Looking first at the number of private cars , which accounted for by far the largest details in both years and rose significantly from 19 million in 1996 to 24 million in 2006.Following this trend , the firgure for other types of vehicle was recorded at 1.2 million in 1996, after rising moderately to 1.9 million in 2006.
By contrast , the data of lorries experienced a sharp decrease from 0.5 million to 0.1 million during the period . Similarly , motorcycle registrations decreased from 1 million to around 0.6 million . Meanwhile, buses were showed the least common vehicle type ,which remained stable at around o.1 million in both years.
