Overall, private cars took the largest proportion of total registrations in both 1996 and 2006, while buses represented the smallest proportion. Most categories witnessed growth over the ten years period, although there were some reduction for lorries and motocycles
In 1996, the number of private cars started at 19 million, making it the dominance figure. This category increased significantly to 24 million by 2006. Other types of vehicles also rose from 1.2 million to 1.9 million. Meanwhile, the number of lorries decreased slightly from 0.5 million to 0.4 million, and buses remained stable at 0.1 million in both years.
Motorcycles experienced a drop from 1.0 million in 1996 to 0.6 million in 2006. Despite of minor fructuations in other categories, private cars stills contributed to the overall rise.
