Overall, There were increases in the share of crimes on Car theft and House burglary, while the street robbery’s figures remained relatively unchanged. Additionally, it is also clear that the crime figures for Car theft were the highest while those for street robbery were the lowest throughout the period.
The proportion of car theft increased significantly from 0.4% in 1970 to reach a peak of 1.4% in 1985, followed by a drop to 0.8% in 2000. Similar changes, but to a much lesser extent, were seen in the figures for House burglary, which gradually rose from around 0.3% in 1970 to 0.6% in 1990, before ending at 0.4% in the last year of the period.
Street robbery in England & Wales was the least common crime among the three, with its figure being approximately 0,1% in 1970. Then, it saw mild/minor fluctuations between 0.1% and 0.15% throughout the 30-years period.
