Overall, Slovakia ranks the highest, while Greece the lowest compared to the average EU values. However, the fuel consumption of the rest of the countries remain close to average.
In 2009, the highest percentage belonged to Slovakia, followed by Austria with a bit over 5%. While Italy took the third place, Spain was near with nearly 4%, and France ranked fifth with a similar result. By contrast, Greece lagged behind with a bit over 1%, however no countires apart from Slovakia exceeded the EU average value in 2009.
However, a year later, Slovakia remained at the top, albeit a drop of around 3% can be observed. The EU average went through a similar process, as well. Meanwhile, the other countries show an increasing tendency, especially Italy, which surged well above 5%. Austria stayed at the same level throughout the years.
In conclusion, Slovakia used the most fuel out of the 6 European countries named, and Greece burned the least amount. Although fluctuations were not uncommon throughout the period, the rest of the countries consumption remained around average.
