The table illustrates the percentage of income two category of people-children and adults- spent in 4 items (food, electronic equipment, music, videos) in the UK in 1998.
Overall, it is shown that adults especially women spent most of the their money on food. While, children showed that they spent most of the their income to the music. Additionally, videos accounted for the lowest or near lowest exenditure among others, but this is only relevant for adults.
Food was dominant one among adults and showed 25%, despite of this much more money spent women with 39% compared to the men whereas they spent only 14% on this category. In contrast, music was only 5% among adults, however only 2% or under 2% of elders used their money in the videos field.
Consequently, children chose entertainment and technology over other categories. Music was the highest expense at 39% and other two groups of people had similar tendency. Electronic equipment is the second highest after music, children and boys are around 23%, however girls did not spent more than 5% on this and prioritized videos (17%); boys and children spent their income to the videos too, 18% and 12% respectively. In contrast, food stayed the lowest among children, averaging 10% overall.
