The table shows the average number of minutes per day that men and women in a certain country spent on three different leisure activities in 2008.
Overall, it is clear that watching TV, videos, and listening to the radio was the most popular leisure activity for both genders, taking up much more time than reading and sports. Furthermore, men generally spent more time on leisure overall, particularly in media and sports, while women spent slightly more time on reading.
Looking at the details, the majority of daily leisure time for both men and women was spent on television, video, and radio. Men spent 137 minutes per day on these media formats, which was 19 minutes longer than the average for women (118 minutes).
In contrast, the time spent on the other two activities was much lower, with both genders spending less than 20 minutes a day on each. Reading was the only category where women showed higher participation, averaging 19 minutes daily compared to 18 minutes for men, which is a very small difference. On the other hand, men were slightly more active in sports, spending 15 minutes a day, whereas women spent only 11 minutes on this category.
