Overall, the percentage of arrested male was more than triple the rate of female. Notably, the most common reason for arrestment was drink driving, while the minority of people chose to not to answer.
Turning to specifics, during the period of 1990 and 1994, 32% of males was arrested, whereas among women this rate was considerably lower (9%).
As for causes for arresting, the leading reason for both ganders was drink driving, making up well above 31% of male and approximately 37% of female. By contrast, around 26% of male was arrested for speeding, and, with a noticeable gap, female accounted for less than 14%. Additionally, for about 17% of men and 11% of women the reason for arrest was breaking and entering. Assaulting and jaywalking, on the other hand, stood out with almost identical percentage of male and female – around 17%. While almost 16% of male and 13% of female were arrested because of petty theft, the rate of people who did not tell the reason was well above 5% among both genders.
