The two pie charts illustrate the proportion of males and females arrested from 1989 to 1994, while the bar graph shows the causative factors for the most recent arrests for both sexes in percentages in the same time period.
Overall, more men were arrested when compared to women. Additionally, the most popular reason for arrests was public drinking whereas, the least common reason was no answer.
With regard to men, the pie chart reveals that 32% of the men were arrested in these five years. Public drinking was the most frequent illegal activity committed by them at just over 10%. This figure is closely followed by drunk driving at 5% less than the former. The percentages of other reasons (breach of order, assault, theft and other reasons) were between 15 and 20%. No answer was the least committed crime at below 5%.
Moving ahead, from the pie chart it is clearly evident that 9% of the women were arrested between 1989 and 1994. Similar to men, about 38% of the women were arrested for public drinking making this the most popular misdemeanor. On the contrary, just below 15% of the women were taken in because of drunk driving.Interestingly, the same percentage of women (approximately 17%) were arrested for assault and other reasons. Likewise, about 13% of the women were arrested for breach of order and theft. No answer was 4% more common in women when compared to men.
