The table presents data on the proportion of men and women in the forkforce in six distinct fields during the years of 1993 and 2003.
Overall, services and transport exhibit the largest proportion of workers in both genders, while business sector witnessed a substaintial increase in male and female employees during the examined period. The remaining sectors, on the other hand, encountered mixed signals.
In 1993, more than half of female workforce were presented in the services and transport sector, compared to only 22% of male counterpart. However, by 2003, the number of women participating in this field diminished dramatically to just 36% for women in work, relatively similar to the figure of male workforce in the same year (31%). As for business sector, although the percentages were at a negligible level in 1993, this industry had drawn a prominent attraction to the labour force for the next ten years, with male and female participation rates accounted for 25% and 22% by 2003, respectively.
The remaining sectors experienced mixed trends. Agriculture’s statistics for male workers decline starkly by 30% during the studied period. In contrast, women began to contribute to the construction field, with 6% joining the building sector in 2003 compared to none in 1993. Lastly, although there was an increase in the participation rates for both genders in social services, these numbers were trivial compared to the figures of the other sectors.
