The maps illustrate the layout of a museum as it appeared in 1998 and the rearrangements took place in 2008.
Overall, it is clear that the museum had undergone a notable reconfiguration, with the most significant changes being the reduction of permanent exhibition rooms and the increases of amenities for visitors.
In 1998, the museum’s core comprised a large garden, which had a cafe shop above and surrounded by four permanent exhibition rooms in the east and west. The tickets office, housed at the south-central zone of the map, was also an entrance and exit. While the temporary exhibition room lay in the south-west corner, the south-east contained a shop alongside a storage for bags and coats and a single rest room.
By 2008, while the ticket office and entrance remain intact, the western permanent galleries had been removed to make room for an extension of the temporary gallery and a restaurant, in which people could have lunch inside the museum. The rest room replaced nearly half of the cafe’s area, which opened a new sitting area in the garden to increase the service for visitors. The garden area was also reduced by two additional fountains and the shops and bags and coats storage moved to the opposite side because of the rearrangement of permanent exhibition rooms.
