The provided maps illustrate the transformation of a museum over the period between 1998 and 2008, showing how the area was redeveloped for touristic and urban expansion purposes.
At first glance, it is readily apparent that while certain original features remained largely intact, several others, such as the garden, was substantially changed. Over the given time span, the place underwent substantial modernization, with notable developments in infrastructure and public facilities.
Some permanent exhibition rooms in the northeast are the only features which remained virtually unchanged. The northwestern corner of the garden in the middle of the museum was replaced by a newly purpose-built cafe sitting area, even though the garden itself was expanded. The WC was moved to above the garden.
By that time, several major alterations had taken place, the most prominent of which was the extension and movement of the temporary exhibition room to stay on the left side of the garden. Filling the empty space left behind by the temporary exhibition room were the expanded bags and coats and shops. The TICKETS entrance/exit stayed in the same position while being extended in width. Above the garden, linked with the cafe sitting zone was the narrowed cafe. Being connected with the cafe was the construction of a new restaurant in the northwestern corner of the museum.
