Two pie charts compare the share of different ways of energy production in France, in years 1995 and 2005.
Overall, coal was the main source of energy in both years, followed by gas in the second place. While the share of all other energies have been increased, petro has followed a converse trend.
In 1995, coal was leading source with a share of 29.80%. With a minor difference, gas accounted for 29.63% of energy production. Petro remained third place, with a proportion of 29.27%, while nuclear energy contributed only 6.40% of production, representing a remarkable gap. Similarly, other energy sources constitute 4.90% of production.
In 2005, all energy sources followed an upward trend except for petro.Coal’s ratio, remaining the leading source, increased to 30.93%. Gas and nuclear energy also showed a growth, reaching 30.31% and 10.10% respectively. The highest rise was recorded by other sources, a growth of approximately twofold, from 4.90% in 1995 to 9.10% in 2005. Nevertheless, petro’s proportion fell to 19.55% in 2005, highlighting the only deminishing energy source.
