Overall, an equal number of boys and girls enjoy listening to music, whereas a significantly higher proportion of girls shows a preference for reading. There are also notable differences in their choices of sports activities.
In the first chart, it is evident that boys predominantly favor playing computer games, with participation rate of 34% , followed by basketball, which are enjoyed by nearly third of boys. Soccer ranks third, engaging 17% of them. Skateboarding and listening to music are less popular, each chosen by approximately 11% and 10% of boys respectively. Reading is the last preferred cultural activity among boys, with only 2% participating.
Turning to the second chart, dancing emerges as the most favored activity among girls, with 27% participation. Reading is also highly favored among girls, with more than a fifth of them selecting it. Although fewer girls play computer games compared to boys 16% , it still ranks as their third most popular activity. Netball closely followen at 15% . Similarly, gymnastics is choosen by 11% of girls, akin to the popularity of skateboarding among boys. Listening to music is the least popular leisure activity among girls, matching it’s 10% proportion among boys.
