The pie chart and the table illustrate the main reasons for degrading productivity on American Agricultural lands and their direct effects on three distinct regions.
Overall, main significant causes for degradation is over grazing and deforestation with 35 % and 32 % repectively, while over-cultivation has lower percentage than them with 27%. Among them, Total land degradation proportion are highly dominant in Central and South America both around 14% which is approximately double for North America region, which has the lowest effect around 6 % in the table.
Central and South America regions experienced just over 6 % in deforestaion, which is nearly 6 times for north america’s figure. In the same time, Over-grading are also main effect for these regions with just over 2 % and 4 % respectively, while North America is just slightly lower than the central regions. However, Over-cultivation in central regions has the highest proportion around 5 %, following by north and south regions with around 4% and 2% respectively.
In summary, deforestation, over cultivation and over-grazing are majorly affecting the degradation of lands in Central and South America, while the North regions has the least effects.
