The pie chart represents the causes that has led to decrease productivity of the agricultural land in America while the table shows the proportion of land destruction in three regions of Americas by those causes.
Overall, the main reason for land degradation in America is overgrazing while the most affected region is Central America.
Among different causes, the most common cause of decreased productivity of land is overgrazing which comprises 35.2% followed by deforestation which is 32%. 27% of land is destroyed by over cultivation while other causes comprise of 6%.
Deforestation has affected South America the most which accounts for approximately 7%, followed by Central America which is almost 6% and Central America, least affected with nearly 0.05%. While, overcultivation has affected Central America the most (i.e., approximately 5%) and overgrazing has its deleterious effect mostly in South America which is more than 4%. The other two regions affected by overcultivation is near about 4% for North America and almost 2 % for South America. Similarly, overgrazing has destroyed about 2% of the land in North America and slightly above 2% of the land in Central America.
