When it comes to the regional percentages, Central America experinced the highest degradation in the field of total land degraded. North America presented lower percentages than Central and South America.

The main reason to land degradation is over grazing with 35% in America. Deforestation is the next presented high rate with 32%. The third cause for degradation is over-cultivation by 27% and other causes recorded about 6%.
