Although 4 years later, only 34% of fish were imported from Canada while 46% of imported fish came from other countries. The percentage of fish purchased from China increased gradually from 13% in 1988, 20% in 1992, and 30% in 2000.
The lowest expense that the US had to spend for importing fish was in 1988 and it was only 6.57 billion dollars. However, in 1992 and 2000, the amount of expense the US had to pay increased gradually to 8.52 billion dollars and 10.72 billion dollars.
