The pie charts depict the proportion of social media usage among the age groups 10-17, 18-34, 35-49, 50-64 and 65 years and over.
Overall, while the largest proportion of social media users were in the age groups of 18-34, 35-49, 50-64, the opposite was true for other age groups.
The highest proportion of people used facebook, twitter and youtube within the 18-34 age group, whereas the lowest users followed among those 65 years and over. On the other hand, facebook users in the 35-49 age group accounted for 30%, while the figures for youtube and twitter remained the same, at 29%.
In the 50-64 age group, 19% followed by facebook, compared with 20% for youtube and 18% for twitter. However, 4% of users aged 18-34 accessed twitter and the figure for youtube saw a significant climb to 10%. Among those aged 10-17, twitter usage (9%) was substantially lower than that of facebook and youtube, at 15% and 14%, respectively.
