The charts compare the popularity rates of different sport activities in one particular secondary school in France in 1990, in 2000, and in 2010.
Overall, swimming was the most popular among students in every three years, in contrast, tennis had stayed as the least popular. Football lost its fame considerably in 2010, despite having quite proportion in 1990 and 2000.
In 1990, 39% of students showed interest in swimming and this figure rose to almost half in 2000. Football and tennis did not gain or lose popularity in these years, football going 16% to 18% and tennis staying at just 4%. Meanwhile, basketball declined noticeably from 16% to 7%. A quarter of total children engaged in other sports in both years.
In 2010, basketball again rose in interest, making up 25%. In the contrary, football experienced a drastical decrease to just 8%. While swimming lose some figures, it still remained as the main choice among pupils.
