The two pie charts illustrate the production of various energy in Spain in the years 2008 and 2017.
Overall, it can be seen that the generation of oil and gas is dramatically higher in both years. However, another noticeable trend is that coal production fell to nearly half.
The three highest energy production in 2008 are oil, coal, and gas, with 27%, 28%, and 22%, respectively. However, whilst the generation of gas increases steadily to 23%, oil production saw a notable decrease to 23% in 2017. Despite a minor decline of oil generation in 2017, gas and oil replaced coal as the first highest energy production.
The three remaining energy generation are nuclear, renawebles, and others, with 11%, 9%, and 3%, respectively. In 2017, the production of nuclear and renewable energy experienced a significant increase by 6% and 7%, whereas other energy sources rose slightly to 6% in 2017. Moreover, the share of renewable energy increased from the lowest in 2008 to the third highest by 2017.
