The maps illustrate the spenditure of money in five purposes by teenagers in two different countries: Japan and Australia in 2019.
Overall, the allocation of money for video/computer games,books, and for other purposes were highest in Japan, it was Australian teens who spend money heavily on buying clothes and food. Japanese teens spent more money on video/computer games, which topped the list, whereas there was a comparable figures in spending on clothes and food, twice as high as the allocation money on other purposes. Japanese and Australian’s teens spent the same proportion of money on video/games and other purposes,respectively. The lowest chart was seen in Australia for books and other purposes, twofold of that of Japan.
In 2019, the proportion of money in video/computer games topped the list among other money use in Japan, at 37%. There was a similar proportion of share in clothes and other purposes, which twice as high as that of books , showing 20% and 22 % , respectively. Japanese teenagers spent the least money on other purposes, being at 9%.
Meanwhile, the proportion of money on other purposes was the highest comparing to Japan’s figure, at 37%, showing the same proportion to allocation of money to the figure that of Japanese teen’s on video/computer games. The figure for clothes and video/computer games showed a comparable proportion, at 25% and 22%, the former registering more in comparison to that of Japan’s figure. Australian teens spent 8 % of their cash on books and other books,registering 8%, being the least money spending area.
